Potential side effects

 

• The side effects of this treatment are minimal and self resolving. As mentioned before, the body's inflammatory process is key to the success of this treatment. So, minor swelling is to be expected. Swelling normally subsides after 48 hours but can last up to 2 weeks.

 

• Up to 50% of clients experience some level of numbness in the location of the injections; this resolves itself but can last up to 30 days. 

 

• Most clients experience a warmth and reddening to the treatment area. This usually passes in 24 hours.

 

• Tenderness and bruising is normal in the location of the injections and can last up to 2 weeks.

 

• A stinging sensation as the injection is being administered is normal.

 

• Hives response over injection sites.

 

• During the period of swelling the area can look fuller than it did before treatment, but as the fat cells are disrupted and the inflammation subsides, most clients see results by 6 to 8 weeks after a treatment. Unless a client were to gain weight, the results should be long-lasting.

 

 

Are results immediate? 

 

This treatment does require some patience -  most clients notice a visible difference within six weeks with subsequent treatments further improving the overall result.

How many treatments are required? 

 

Most clients require three or four treatments, usually four-six weeks apart. For larger areas up to 8 treatments may be necessary.

What happens at your appointment ?

 

• A thorough consultation is done checking your medical history to ensure Fat Dissolve Injections are suitable for you.

​

• If you decide to go ahead with the treatment pictures of the treated area are taken which will remain in your file.

​

• Next the area to be treated is cleaned & a measured grid is drawn over the area to ensure precise treatment.

​

• The Fat Dissolve solution is injected, using the No Needle Hyaluron Pen, into the marked out area - no massage or rubbing is required.

​

• Once the whole area has been treated Arnica gel is applied along with aftercare advice. A small pot of arnica gel is also included for you to apply at home.

​

• A follow up appointment is made, this is where an after picture will be taken before commencement of your second treatment.

 

 

Aftercare

 

• There may be itching, stinging, redness or warmth in the area post treatment. This will last between a few hours and a couple of days.

​

• Swelling and bruising are normal and can last for up to 2 weeks following treatment.

​

• The skin may feel tender to touch for up to 2 weeks later.

​

• It is important to drink plenty of water to help the body remove the excess waste. We recommend 2 litres per day.

​

• Avoid sun exposure or sunbeds for 2 weeks post treatment to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation.

​

• A healthy diet and exercise should be maintained throughout the course of treatment.

​

• In rare cases nodules, necrosis, abseses, hepatomas or infection may occur. If you experience anything that concerns you, please seek medical attention immediately.
